Mayke, Olaf, Sabine and I have just returned from a month of adventure and relaxation in Kenya. Apart from the return journey (hampered by food poisoning, first for Ollie, then for me), the entire month was fantastic! It started with the beautiful wedding of my sister and Trevor Sherwin in the setting of lake Naivasha (Burch’s Camp), which was as romantic as a wedding can be. After that, my parents and the four of fus drove to the Masai Mara where we camped three nights and spent three days marvelling at the millions of Gnu in the midst of their trek, and all the other animals of Africa (except, for some reason, the big cats). Having said goodbye to my parents we then left the Mara on the West side and toured through a beautiful part of Kenya, through Kisii, to Kakamega, through Eldoret, Iten and Kabarnet to Lake Baringo, to Nakuru National Park, up Mt Kenya and ending up with rafting down the river Tana. To recover somewhat from the many adventures along this journey, we then spent a week at the coast; Cappricho Cottages on Tiwi Beach, where we relaxed utterly.
A full report may follow and certainly some photographs are going to appear on this site in the next few days!
